Scope and Contents The Beulah Shepard Collection comprises the personal papers of Beulah Shepard from 1940 to 2012. This collection contains correspondence of congratulatory letters on her election to Secretary of the Harris County Democratic Party in 1976. There is also some political correspondence to Beulah Shepard from Texas and various United States Congressmen discussing issues that impacted the late 1970s such as minimum wage increase and women’s rights. Scope and Contents Note

The collection consists mainly of legal documents and papers, legal reference materials, correspondence and clippings on his work on Democratic Party committees, his efforts to further world peace and relating to the many charitable organizations he was associated with, the organizations he founded, and his church work. Some personal papers and artifacts are included.

This scrapbook is inclusive of events from 1972 to 2001 and contains letters, from President Bill and Carol Mosey Braun, various legislators and family members, newspaper clippings, awards, Democratic National Convention ephemera, and photographs of notable African Americans including Danny Glover, Sheila Jackson Lee, Cynthia Cooper, Lee P. Brown, and Jesse Jackson during the March for Justice and Equal Funding for TSU & PVU march.
