Biographical / Historical

These architectural models were created by Houston artist, Mercedes Hitchcock in the 1970s. Hitchcock created many models of buildings throughout, at least, the 1960s and 1970s. Most were wood and papier-mâché purses created by commission. In 1974, Hitchcock started a project to create recreations of about 150 years worth of Masterson family homes in the Houston and Southeast Texas region. The items in collection were created as part of that project.
