Fred Vermillion Glass Plate Photographs

Scope and Contents This collection of 800 to 1000 glass dry-plate negatives documents life at Houston's Camp Logan from 1918-1919. The plates were created by Fred Vermillion who established a tent studio at the camp. The images show the training, recreation, facilities of the troops as well as some portraits of men in uniform. Some of these portraits were likely sold to the soliders, while others were used to produce into postcards.
