This collection focuses on Gregorio Salazar's activities in MAYO, the Raza Unida Party and Venceremos Brigade, and his school board candidacy. It contains copies of newspaper articles, correspondence and promotional materials for MAYO. There is also information about other Mexican-American political movements in the mid-twentieth century, as well as a collection of publications created by these movements from across the United States and in Texas.

This is a collection of records compiled by Dr. Guadalupe Quintanilla's personal secretary. The largest component of this collection is the published articles about Dr. Quintanilla which feature several writings about her role with the Houston Police Department. In addition, the scrapbooks, carefully arranged by her secretary, offer an overview of Quintanilla's life and travels.

The Harris County Hispanic Caucus (HCHC) collection contains correspondence from the HCHC committee. It also contains an application for the Housing and Community Decelopment Act of 1977. There are also press releases from the HCHC. There is also a letter intended for community members to form the Mexican American Hispanic Advisory Council.

This collection contains the personal and legal records of Henry V. Sanchez. Legal Records pertain mostly to the trials surrounding those arrested and accused of inciting a riot during the Moody Park incident in Houston in 1978. This collection also contains digital scans of select pieces of art created by Henry V. Sanchez as well as photographs of Sanchez.

Hicks Family Collection 1890s-1960s
This collection partially documents the lives of Maggie Johnson Hicks and daughter Betty Hicks Wilson. Over 300 photographs in this collection offer those interested in African-American history a good pictorial review of three generations of a family living in Houston’s 6th and 4th Wards in the early and mid-20th century. It also includes various certificates, diplomas, and transcripts. Of note are two Texas Southern University yearbooks from 1948 and 1949.
Hilliard Taylor Family Photographs
This collection consists of 229 black and white photographs and biographical materials. Photographs depict the Taylor family and home life in Houston, Boley, Oklahoma and Hot Springs, Arkansas from 1914 to 1997. This collection provides a glimpse into black family life and during the early 20th century. Most images are related to James and Josie’s life in Houston, but several are of Hilliard’s success after migration.
Hispanic Heritage Month Scanning and Oral History Days Collection
This collection contains the 5 interviews and 12 digital files acquired at two Scanning and Oral History Day events hosted by the Houston Metropolitan Research Center. These events took place on September 21 and October 12, 2013 as part of the Houston Public Library’s Hispanic Heritage Month programming.
HMRC Houston Photograph Collection
MSS 0157 is is an artificial collection created by the Houston Public Library's "Texas Room" local history collections, now housed at the Houston Metropolitan Research Center. Like MSS 0114 HMRC Photograph Collection, it contains photos of Houston gathered from various sources. There are 2697 photographs, ranging in date from 1859-1973. Subjects include buildings, cityscapes, and portraits of prominent individuals. Most of the photos are black and white.
