This collection consists of business papers, a historical marker application, a proposal to digitize historical records, burial/disinternment applications, and the personal research notes of Donna Beth Shaw.
Horace Dickinson Taylor Family Papers
The Taylor family collection consists of correspondence to and from Horace Dickinson Taylor and his family between 1848 and 1898. The letters concern daily life in the nineteenth century. There is, however, a noticeable gap in the correspondence during the Civil War period. A brief history, written in 1965 by a descendant, is also included.

Collection contains landmark nominations, protected landmark nominations, National Residential Historic District applications and research created by Preservation Houston staff members that detail the history of buildings structures in black neighborhoods. Researchers interested in the history of black neighborhoods in Houston will find this collection a valuable resource.
Houston Housing Authority Records
The collection contains correspondence, legal records, newspaper clippings, maps, contracts, periodicals, various types of ephemera, and reports documenting the development of public housing projects in Houston. Of note there are several photographs and negatives taken by the photographer Bob Bailey, and documentation resignation of the architect John F. Staub.
Houston Mayors Collection
The Houston Mayors Collection consists of campaign materials, inaugural programs and invitations, press releases, speeches, etc. for three of Houston's Mayors including Louie Welch, Fred Hofheinz, and Jim McConn.
Houston Mexican American Family History Collection
This collection consists of papers written for a class taught by Dr. Cary Wintz, Texas Southern University, 1981. They are generally the product of interviews with students' family members about their family history in Mexico and as immigrants; a few by senior students are about their own lives. The papers contain descriptions of the challenges and daily activities experienced by Mexican-Americans.
Houston Modern Dance Council
This collection focuses primarily on Roberta Stokes and her modern dance endeavors. From 1975 to 1988, Stokes served as a pioneer of the modern dance scene in Houston. This collection consists of photographs, promotional materials, scrapbook pages, audio tapes, video cassettes, transcripts, correspondence, and drawings.

Houston Organizations Collection
This collection contains materials from a wide variety of clubs and organizations in Houston. The types of materials include directories and yearbooks, newsletters, programs, by-laws, memos, brochures, bulletins and scrapbooks. The types of organizations include charitable, service, civic, gardening, recreational, religious, literature, study, political and social. Many of the organizations from the early to mid 20th century are women's clubs.
Houston Philosophical Society Records
The Houston Philosophical Society Records contain a small ledger with meeting minutes and a large scrapbook with speeches, meeting notes, and a few newspaper clippings. The collection also includes several additional meeting notes and speeches given by members and guests of the Society and some correspondence.

Houston Public Library Records
The Houston Public Library Collection contains records of the institution's history and activities. Included are reports, photographs, internal and external correspondence, budgets, publicity, scrapbooks, branch building contruction documents, brochures, borrower's registries, strategic plans, agendas and meeting minutes. Also included are documents relating to partnership initiatives, contracts and purchase orders, and technology additions and upgrades to the library system.
Houston Social Service Bureau
This collection contains documents that chronicle the activities of the Houston Social Service Bureau (later, the Family Service Bureau), including administrative documents and publications relevant to the Bureau's mission to serve needy families and unemployed individuals in Houston.
Houston Subdivision Collection
The Houston Subdivision Collection is a collection consisting of brochures, pamphlets, and plat maps documenting the development of new subdivisions in the Houston area. The boxed material contains abstracts of titles, brochures, lists of property owners, and newspaper clippings. The plat maps are from different subdivisions, each newly created at that particular time. Also included with the plat maps are three Houston street directories and city maps of the 1890s and 1900s.
