Scope and Contents
The Nicholson Family Papers is comprised primarily of transcriptions of William Nicholson's Civil War correspondence. William Nicholson served with the Texas Rangers and died in battle at Coosville, Georgia, in 1864. The Nicholsons were related to the House family (early Houston bankers) through marriage.

The materials in this collection consist primarily of Rice's personal and financial correspondence as well as financial records covering his residency in Houston, with the earliest papers dating from 1841.
