Scope and Contents
Except for one lengthy letter to John Henry Kirby in 1908, the Eagle Papers generally cover the period from 1933 to 1955 and include political, business, and personal correspondence. The 1936 Senatorial campaign is documented as well as congressional patronage for postal jobs. Correspondence concerning the effort to eliminate Victor Gluck from the post office as a suspected Communist sympathizer is particularly interesting.
